Descending through the downpour, the large male wolf felt his paws hit the ground. He touched the ground running and slowed to a stop. Looking around, he squinted through the rain the dampened his face. He opened his mouth and, lifting t to the moon, let out a long and deary howl. He looked at the moon and then peered around through the heavy downpour. his name was Rayn, and he felt it fit for he loved it when the water came out of the clouds among the sky. Rayn sat in the falling water and let it cover him. He had a distant and lonely stare as he sat there. All he could do now was wait. Wait for someone or something to come.

Walking slowly through the downpour, she tucked her wings to her sides to protect them from the water, though it didn't help much. The brown of her body blended well with the trunks of the trees, especially in a shadowy place like this. She was subdued by the rain, as it was very like her personality and name. Misery, as that is usually what she brought to others around her, was her name. She stopped at she saw the wolf and shuddered at the distant look in his eyes. She knew she often had a stare very similar to that, and it usually scared others off. She started to take a step toward him, then changed her mind and brought her paw back to the ground underneath her body. She whimpered, unable to decipher whether she should approach the male or not. Instead, she knew the sound would bring him to her, or at least draw his attention to her.

At the sound of her whimper, the male was brought back to reality. He shook his head and the water was flung around him. He outstretched his wings and then pulled them back as his eyes were pulled toward her. He stood and stepped forward. He stopped there and stared at her.

She watched him cautiously, and blinked. She kept absolutely still, letting only the rain and wind move her fur. She finally dipped her head toward the ground quickly, a gesture of greeting she had been taught to use by her mother. She brought her head back up and pulled her muzzle toward her chest, arching her neck. She let the water drip off her nose as she waited for his response. She shook out her wings, but kept the rest of her body completely still, even her head.

OOC: Oops! I used Mystics when I did that! Sorry Mystic! She was logged in when I did that...
Rayn moved the same way she had, and then moved closer. He would have forced her had he not been out in the open when she arrived. Now, cover blown, he walked slowly and calmly toward her. He lifted his head and looked her over. He tried to leanr about her with his eyes, but she seemed hard to read. He was like that natuarly and he figured by the way she stared, that she was as naturally gloomy and lost as he was. He quickened his pace slightly and sat in front of her, now only about 50 feet away. "Hello." he said softly and low.

Misery tensed, feeling the momentary hostility after he made the gesture, and involuntarily growled. It was soft, but she was sure he heard it. She stepped back automatically, but then his aura--the same as many a male she had met and fought off--seemed to lighten and she relaxed. She sighed, letting out a breath she realized she had been holding. She didn't attempt to read him, it had been too easy for her when she'd first seen him. What she'd seen at that first glance was enough for her to figure most of it out. They were alike in some ways, but not many. "Hello," she said quietly, her voice soft and musical, though it often contradicted the way she felt. She shuddered, hating the sound of her own voice. She purposely lowered it and spoke again. "Misery," was all she said, and wondered if he would understand what she meant. It could have been taken a number of ways, but the way she meant it was her name, although she figured he would take it as what she felt. And even that would be right. She shook her head slowly and straightened her neck out again.

Rayn had trouble understanding at first, lowering his head and turning it sideways. Thinking about it though, he figured it out. "Rayn," he said softly. He laid on the ground to show no threat, but he had in hte back of his mind that she could attack just as well as any male, so his ears stayed pricked to show alertness. He opened his mouth to let air circulate more thouroughly and laid his tail flat on the ground. "Why are you here alone?" he whispered in a dark and mysterious voice, but it was also somewhat calming as well. Almost entransing. He closed his eyes to hear her speak again, now, in the darkness, almost unseen.

Misery watched him lower himself to the ground, but stayed standing. She thought about his question for a moment before answering. "Because there is no one that will be with me," she answered simply. And it was true; no one wanted to be around her for more than a few minutes, maybe because of the way she acted or maybe because of what she brought on them. She shook her head and closed her eyes, wanting to escape a number of memories. She opened her eyes again to stare at the outline, or what she thought was the outline, of his body. She sighed, shaking the water out of her fur and then sitting on her tail.

He opened his eyes and sat up. "How so?" he asked, somewhat curious about this female he had so much in common with. He knew no one who knew about him would stay for more than a second. If he told her, maybe she would understand he wasn't about to do anything to her. He spoke again, giving her no time to answer the question. "You might want to know, I'm a forcer. But I have no intention of forcing you. Unless you want me to." he said.

She showed no surprise at this information. "I figured you were," she replied. "You don't want to try anything with me, I'm a bad opponent for anyone to have." At that moment lightening cracked and thunder roared. She smiled and lookd up where she cold almost see the electricity lingering in the air. She looked back at Rayn. "Remember, I am misery, in more than one sense of the word. That is why no one will be with me. I bring misery to the lives of wolves with no intention of doing so. I have found no way of keeping compaions, and so I have just stopped trying." She sighed and looked away. She stood and spread her feathered wings out on either side of her body, the feathers ruffling in the wind and itching to take flight. The feathers on her tail made it sway in the wind. She jerked her head to the right and the wind settled a little so that her body no longer protested her. She chuckled lowly and lowered her body to the ground. She looked up at the black spirit wolf in front of her.

Rayn lowered his head. He knew something was different about her. But what a suprise she was! He stretched his wings and hovered just off the ground, water slipping off of him. He touched ground again and stood, head low and a small growl formed, unexpected. He pulled his head back and the rain spread over his face as he closed his eyes. He parted his lips and a howl escaped into the dark.

Misery watched him, wondering why he was acting this way. She sat on her tail, as she thought of what it could mean, but continued to watch him, curiosity entering her empty eyes. She waited to see what was going on, knowing that at some point it would be revealed. A shiver ran down her spine and her feathered wings trembled. She looked to the sky, seeking something, but not knowing what she would find. She searched the sky, looking for the gathering of elecricity she needed, and when she did she closed her eyes, concentrating only on that cloud of electricity. She opened her eyes again just as the lightning flashed down from the clouded sky. And then thunder boomed just after, only a split second afer the flash of light. She looked down again at Rayn, satisfied for now.

Through the gloomy night a light shone. It's calm angelic touch kissing the grass as the Spirit wolf glided down to stand behind Rayn. She folded in her elongated wings and hugged them to her body. She looked at the two wolves, who were almost as gloomy as the weather. ''Salutations.'' she barked, her voice tunefull and calm. She held her head and tail high.

Misery turned to the newly arrived Spirit wolf, and regarded her carefully. She nodded once, and then sighed. She lowered her front end to the ground so that she was lying sphynx-style. She looked up at the two other wolves, wondering what she should say. She rested her chin on her paws and flattened her wings on the ground beside her.

His eyes opened and he turned, ears swiveled to hear Misery, but his eyes focused on the other spirit wolf. He lowered his head to block his chest, but showed no intetion of attacking. "How do you do?" he asked in a low tone, looking her over to figure out why she was here. She wasn't hurt and looking for help. She gave the impression of a peppy wolf. Not his type.
