Kano shrugged and left her to hunt for her own. He'd return in about a year to see his newborn pups, but for now, the male didn't care who she'd end up with.

She smiled as she watched him go. She had known he wouldn't stay. One of the deer threw its head up and the herd bolted. She chased after it and separated an older one from the herd. It couldn't keep up with the rest and she soon caught up with it. She grabbed its neck as it tripped and tumbled to the ground. She held on until she was sure it was dead. She feasted on it until she was full. She snarled at the scavengers who were gathering around the kill. She got up and left the rest of it to the birds and all the other scavengers.

A few weeks later...
Sienna lay in her den. She barely flinched as her stomach constricted. She pushed hard and a little female emerged. She licked it to get it to breath, then another was born. She licked it too. She whined softly and watched the entrance for Kano, who she knew would come sooner or later.

She stood silently and went outside. She let out a long howl that carried all the way to Kanos territory. She had no idea what was there, or if he would come at all, but she howled long and low. Eventually her howl became louder and then it got softer again. She stopped as the pups squealed and went back into her cave.

Sienna's ears perked as the reply came. Her eyes widened at the warning. She looked down worriedly at the pups. She had to get them to a safe place for a while, but where? She looked outside and looked for a little cave or some other den. She finally found a little hollow beneeth a tree, just large enough for her pups. She moved them to it and licked them reassuringly. She went back outside and howled once more to Kano. She told him to come to her and bring whoever else was there. She told him that she didn't want to fight it alone if it came for her. She stopped and turned back to the little hollow to curl protectively around her pups.
